Took my CFT (Combat Fitness Test) this afternoon. I’m sure no one is familiar with it, but its a new fitness test put in by the Marine Corps. There are three events:
1. An 880-yard “Movement to Contact” run in combat boots and utility pants.
2. 30-lb ammo can press overhead
3. “Maneuver Under Fire” 330-yard shuttle run with a bunch of events in it.
Here is a link to more info and a video of the test
The basics are that it is meant to simulate combat better than the traditional pullups, situps and 3 mile run in PT shoes that is normally tested. (watch the video and look at the definition of fitness….look familiar???)
I took this test in the Spring after just starting Crossfit. My scores were: 3:04 on the 880-yard run, 83 presses, and a 3:00 shuttle run. Score: 267/300
Today my scores were 2:51 on the run, 93 ammo can presses and a 2:13 shuttle run. Thats a max score on the press and shuttle run and 6 sec off maxing the run. Final score: 297/300
Without a doubt the improvement came from Crossfit. If anyone needed more proof, this stuff works!
Push Press: 67, 78, 89, 89, 89
Deadlift: 89, 111, 133, 133, 133
Push press- 77, 89, 89, 89, 89
Dead lift-151 X 5
