- Take turns doing three rounds of max rep squats with that partner on your back.
- If you can’t squat someone, find a sandbag.
WOD “Royal Marines Gym Test”
- push-ups in 2 mins (min target: 60)
- 2 mins rest
- sit-ups in 2 mins (min target: 80)
- 2 mins rest
- as many pull-ups as you can do without letting go, strict, chest to bar (min target: 6)
A PT test? I hate PT tests. In fact, when I left the army this not ever having to take one again was one of the things I was most excited about. What is the push-up standard? I doubt it’s chest to ground in the Royal Marines.

Royal Marines standards for push-ups is down to fist height (60 gives you a perfect score), sit-ups are anchored (partner holding your feet) and elbows just have to touch top of knees (80 gives a perfect score), pull-ups are just chin over bar and you have to do at least 2. Maybe we should all go join the Royal Marines. (No idea if the numbers are the same for women as for men.)
