Summer Seminar Series by Mr. Ben Stephens
Hi everybody! What do you want to learn more about? Thinking about putting together some 2 to 3 hour seminars for the summer. Topic ideas are included below. For the body part topics, seminars would include functional anatomy, pre-hab/mobility, proper warm-up, performance/dysfunctional movement patterns, form notes for specific crossfit movements, maybe some homework/drills, etc. Mobility assessment could include basic postural assessment and other fun stuff. This isn’t physical therapy, so I can’t fix your injuries! Kettlebells could be a time to learn some of the other K-bell training movements and sequences. Other ideas: Running, grip training, nutrition tweaks, odd lifts, etc. These would require a good bit of research and time to put together, so I was thinking $10 for members and $20 for non-members would be a fair exchange. We are hosting two events, one team competition in Richmond on August 6th and 7th and one huge individual fundraiser competition on January 21st and 2nd in Charlottesville. Both of these events will have scaled division, so as long as you have at least 5 or 6 months of CrossFit experience you should be able to compete and have a lot of fun with the workouts. Sign up early because these events will sell out!
If you want to do an awesome 10 mile race with us in September, please sign up ASAP and join our team. We have a discount code that should be still available. All details are here.
New Programming Cycle
We will have one brutal month to prep us for regionals. Be ready for a lot of hard stuff with some olympic lifts mixed in.
Social Bar Night
We are going to head over to Belmont Pizza and Pub (where 2 sides used to be) on Thursday, May 12th at 7:30PM. [Facebook Invite]
Go Green Fest with Gretchen
We are going to be going to the Charlottesville Go Green Fest on Saturday May 14th from 10am-2pm to promote the gym. We will have a booth set up and run some demo workouts for the people there (both adults and kids). I encourage everyone to come out and at least visit the booth for a little while that day, but also wanted to see if there were a few people who would be willing to volunteer to be at the booth and help run some workouts that day, even if you can’t be there the whole time. here is the link to the event. Also feel free to spread the word to clients and encourage them to come on out and bring their friends and visit us while we are there. The SPCA will be there with some animals to be adopted and there will be a moon bounce as well (YEAHHHHHH MOON BOUNCE!!) so use that to entice people to come. If you have any questions or wanna help out let me know!! [Event Link]
