Meet the Trainer: Kyle

Years Doing CrossFit: About 3 Years minus 9 months of shoulder rehab.

First WOD experience: I did a half Cindy with strict pullups and knee pushups. I threw up 3 minutes into it and completed probably 5 or 6 rounds. It was awful, but I loved it.

Favorite WOD: Nate or Badger

Favorite Movement: Heavy Cleans, Backsquat, Handstand Pushups

How many times have you thrown up doing CrossFit: Only once, but pretty sure that it could have been more.

If we had to name a workout after you, what would it include: Running, Squat Cleans, Handstand Pushups

Favorite Thing About CrossFit: Learning to push through the pain, most of the people who do it, the constant change of challenges

Least Favorite Thing About CrossFit: Egos and the people who don’t care about others.

Why did you decide to train clients at our gym:  We needed a fitness community in Charlottesville that wasn’t about misguided fitness information. Training people was the enjoyable part about realizing that goal.

Hobbies Outside of CrossFit: Doing entrepreneurial stuff. I’ve founded 4 companies and worked for myself for the last 4 years.

Training Goals (short, medium, long): Short term: not get headaches with overhead squat WODs, clean and jerk 225#, snatch 155#, do DT RX’ed in a reasonable time period. Medium & Long: do well in the Tough Mudder, compete in more CrossFit competitions and be able to train through Darden.

Professional Career Goals: Build a business to a large exit opportunity.

What did you eat?: Yesterday, I ate 3 eggs, 3 strips of bacon for breakfast, a mid-morning shake with 30g protein, half cup of coconut milk, banana, almond butter, lunch was a wrap from rev soup, afternoon snack was a Kind bar, post workout was a cup of milk with protein, and dinner was Chipotle bowl with everything.

Favorite Cheat Meal: Sassy Sour Jelly Beans.

One Thing You Could Change about yourself: I wish I could be an inch or two taller and be about 20 to 30 pounds heavier. Also I would not have attempted to press out a bad jerk and suffered 9 months of a shoulder injury.

Favorite Gym Experience: The original birthday WODs, moving into our new space, both SuperFit games, seeing people get stronger, get their first pullups and do WODs RX’ed.
