Tuesday: Cleans, Handstands, and Slam Ball Toss


Spend 10 minutes working on the Clean & Jerk. Go light and rest as needed.


With a partner, complete 5 rounds each of:

  • Power Clean x 5 (185/135#)
  • Handstand Hold while partner is on barbell


  • Slam Ball Toss over Pull-up Bar x 50 total (25/15#)

    *Lost count and did 6 rounds! Feel stronger as a result though. (Actually, this is happening way too often)

    Wide grip dead hangs this time, and tied my previous attempt when I could butterfly, so pretty happy with that.

    15 rounds + 5 HSPU + 10 pistols

  11. C&J up to 115# and I feel like a couple things clicked into place for me.
    With Sharif, the WOD was 7:27 I think, but he did 155# cleans and I did 115#.

    Also, I have a confession. I did some barbell curls this weekend. Worse, I enjoyed it. I’m so ashamed at my dirty mind, and my sinful feeling good about maybe having slightly larger guns. I guess I’ll do some thrusters as penance. Or practice some sick pullup work like these guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3MTqRWPiZU

    Actually, I think we need workouts called Our Father and Hail Mary.

    1. Don’t be ashamed of doing curls. Doing curls saved my life…literally (which makes curls, by definition, a functional exercise.) I’ll tell you the story the next time I see you. Plus, who wouldn’t want to have arms like Superstar Billy Graham?


      1. What I love about those wrestlers, seriously, is that some of them are like my grandpa and they are still badass. Maybe it’s all steroids or whatever, but you gotta admire someone with a physique like that when he’s a jillion years old. Plus, they can talk smack and wear absurd clothing and just generally do ridiculous things and still apparently take themselves seriously, which is another enviable skill.
