Use Your Fitness

At CrossFit Charlottesville our goal is to provide you with challenging workouts, expert coaching and guidance, specialized programs (C’ville Strength, C’ville Burn, Youth Training), and most importantly the ability and tools to become a better version of yourself.  The fitness that you gain in the gym should apply to your activities and life outside of the gym as well.  What are you doing to use your fitness?  What is your CrossFit or strength training helping you to achieve?

Maybe you want to compete in your first CrossFit competition, complete a Tough Mudder, get back on your mountain bike, gain strength and flexibility to be better in jiu-jitsu, or just keep up with your kids.  You lift, run, sweat, and strain in the gym, putting in the time day in and day out to be better.  The value you get from CrossFit is unparalleled, so get out there and use what you’ve gained!  Please feel free to share in the comments how YOU are using your fitness.

Warrior Dash

Do people want to get a team together and represent CrossFit Charlottesville at the Warrior Dash at the end of the month?  Contact Scott and we can see about getting a group discount if you we can get enough people to sign up.  Registration for the event closes September 24.

Trail Run Fun

Please contact Scott if you are interested in running the Blue Ridge Burn Trail Run on October 12.  Last year we had a great turnout for the race, and it will be a lot of fun this year!  There’s a discount if we get a team of 10 or more to sign up, and there’s always the option for a nice post-race beer at Devil’s Backbone.  See the flyer here or visit their website for more information: BURN_runningclubflyer.

Nutrition Challenge

Stay tuned to our Facebook and website for details on the upcoming Fall Nutrition Challenge – this will be our Eighth Challenge!  We are planning to hold the kickoff sometime around September 20 (either Friday or Saturday).  You can still participate even if that weekend poses a conflict. More info to come.

Foam Rolling Clinic

Mark your calendars, because our friends at the Airrosti Rehab Center are holding a clinic at our gym on how to properly use a foam roller.  The date for the clinic is tentatively set for the end of this month – September 28 at 9am!  What better way to get warmed up for your Saturday morning workout or jump start your weekend with some mobility work.  Please contact Scott if you are interested in attending or have any questions.

    And am I AM hoping to get out my mountain bike this fall…

  2. At the very least, I want to use my workouts to stave off the inevitable decline that comes with age. I’ve heard “train as though someone you love depends on you to be strong”, and that someone could easily be me in 10, 20, 30 years. Do you want your loved ones to take care of you when you get old, or do you want to be capable of taking care of yourself? I want to be a 90-year old who can still carry bags of cement around the yard to build a deck and who has no trouble lifting his great-grand children. A long-term goal, to be sure, but the training starts today.

    Thanks again to Scott and Martha for letting me drop in for the Lumberjack 20 this past Saturday. If I lived in C’ville, I would sign up at your box in a heartbeat. You have a great facility and great staff.
