Friday Workout: Games Open WOD 14.2

CrossFit Games Open WOD 14.2


Every 3 minutes for as long as possible complete the following:

From 0:00-3:00

2 rounds of:

  •    10 overhead squats
  •    10 chest-to-bar pull-ups

From 3:00-6:00

2 rounds of:

  •    12 overhead squats
  •    12 chest-to-bar pull-ups

From 6:00-9:00

2 rounds of:

  •    14 overhead squats
  •    14 chest-to-bar pull-ups

Etc., following same pattern until you fail to complete both rounds (rounds increase by 2 reps per movement every 3 minute set)

Rx Weights:

MEN – includes Masters Men up to 54 years old
95-lb. overhead squats
Chest-to-bar pull-ups

WOMEN – includes Masters Women up to 54 years old
65-lb. overhead squats
Chest-to-bar pull-ups

MASTERS MEN – includes Masters Men 55+
65-lb. overhead squats
Chin-over-bar pull-ups

MASTERS WOMEN – includes Masters Women 55+
45-lb. overhead squats
Jumping chest-to-bar pull-ups

Each 3-minute section begins from the standing position with the barbell on the floor and the Athlete standing tall. Using a ball, box or other object to check for proper depth is not allowed. Every rep counts in this Your workout is over whenever you do not complete two full rounds of the couplet within the time cap and your score will be the total number of reps you complete.  See the workout description on the CF Games Open website for more information.

Notes for Level 1 and Level 2 if not participating in the open: Scale movements appropriately!  Time domains and rep ranges will remain the same, but please modify as needed with your trainer’s guidance.

  1. I opted out of the open this morning
    10 min row
    6 Way BB complex (6xDL, 6XBentoverRow, 6xHangClean, 6xFS, 6xPushPress, 6xBS, 6xPushup) @ 75, 85, 95, 105#, do not put bar down, rest 1-2 min btwn sets
    12 Min of Hell (AMRAP)= 5xDL@225#, 10xPushPress@75# = 11+6
    5-10min Rest
    6x 30sec work/30 sec rest Row max meters = 158, 161, 158, 157, 151, 154 (I used m rowed at 30 sec mark not letting it wind up)

  2. Just for grins since I knew i was still feeling wrecked from last night… and with a 65# bar to help offset slow pullups.

    A whopping 72.

    I kept plugging through to 9:00 mark. For a total of 96.

    Yesterday i did all my pullups unbroken and full chest to bar, but today not even close.

  3. 144 but scaled back to banded chest to bars and 45# instead

  4. 37 Rx

    Pretty sure that’s the most C2B PUs I’ve ever done in a WOD.

  5. 27 rx (Masters)
    Feelin’ good about the Open now (two of my three goats in the rear view mirror.)

  6. WOD: 135 RX (have to work on C2B)

  7. 137 (Master’s- 45# OS and jumping chest to bar)
